SOURCING

we searched the globe

(from home)

To find the highest quality, and the most ethical and sustainable sources available anywhere. It took at LOT of effort, we learned a huge amount, and you know what? Although there’s still a lot of work to do, it feels good.

you get what you pay for

and how true it is

Good things done right take time, thought, and effort. Modern supply chains are highly commoditised, characterised by bulk buying resulting in constant downward pressure on farmers who must lower their prices to remain competitive. These farmers must make cost savings to remain profitable. They have to do this by paying their staff unfairly, and by boosting produce by any means necessary. This comes at the expense of soil that is devoid of nutrients, crops that are tasteless, and an environment that is negatively impacted. It follows then, that if you go against the grain, and work with farms whose values are the exact opposite, then your sourcing cost is going to be many multiples higher than that it would have been otherwise. That’s a tough choice to make for a little start-up business like ours but we’re ok with it, because we wanted to make the highest quality and most effective supplement on the market.

curcumin

the source

Curcumin is the part of Turmeric that means business. Best known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits – it’s proven to be a natural source of pain relief. Curcumin modulates inflammatory pathways in the body, making it a useful therapeutic for a wide range of health problems like arthritis.

the SCIENCE

Here’s the thing. Curcumin is only 3% of turmeric and is poorly absorbed in the body. You’d have to eat a LOT of turmeric root to get the benefits. So, we decided to fix that by taking the curcumin out of the turmeric. We encapsulate it in liposomes, making it 8 times more bioavailable than it was before, then we add piperine. This is the active component of black pepper that helps your body absorb any golden curcumin nutrients that might have been missed.

OMEGA 3

THE SOURCE

The body doesn’t produce Omega-3, so where do you get it? By eating lots of nuts and fish? Sure, but that’s not always possible. Should you consider supplementing? Okay, but your choice is limited to fish oil, which kills marine ecosystems and tastes bad. We set out to solve this problem. Our Omega 3 comes from organically sourced marine algae. Grown in a lab in Canada, it’s the highest quality fish-free omega 3 available in the world.

THE SCIENCE

Omega 3 is essential for basic human functions. Cardiovascular, brain, joint, eye, skin health… all of it. If you work out regularly, the likelihood is that you have a greater need for it than most people. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to speed up workout recovery by reducing inflammation and improving protein synthesis, which may enhance workout gains. AND it’s liposomal. Don’t say we don’t look after you.

ginger

THE SOURCE

Ginger goes way beyond treating a bad tummy. It’s amazing for your gut health, and keeping your gut healthy is a core part of reducing inflammation in the body. Gingerol, the oily resin from the root, is responsible for the spicy, fiery feeling at the back of your throat following a spoonful of Deflame.

THE SCIENCE

Among ginger root’s many benefits are a few that are particularly helpful for endurance athletes, such as offering an immunity boost, aiding digestion, and acting as an anti-inflammatory and anti-pain agent. Ideal for muscle and joint pain.

frankincense

THE SOURCE

Our secret ingredient - sourced from a farm just 50 miles south of Mumbai. It’s harvested by scraping the bark of the Boswelia Serrata tree which causes it to excrete ‘tears’. When hardened, they form a resin that’s sent to us for liposomal encapsulation. It’s hard work, but luckily all you have to do is squeeze it out of a bottle.

THE SCIENCE

They weren’t called wise men for nothing! Thousands of years later we’re learning how incredible this traditional ayurvedic remedy is for pain relief and enhanced mobility. We now know that the main constituents of the boswelic gum resin are boswelic acids – shown to possess powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-arthritic activity.
